Sip, Stay, and Soak in Nature: A Getaway at Mount Ida Reserve

Updated: Jan 10

A tranquil Virginia Wine Country destination just outside of Charlottesville, VA.

Nestled in the picturesque landscape of Mount Ida Farm and Vineyard's 5,000-acre reserve you'll find a hidden gem of Virginia's Wine Country, beckoning both locals and visitors alike. Mount Ida Reserve Tasting Room and Taphouse, established in 2018 offers an experience that combines the charm of a tasting room with the convivial atmosphere of a taphouse. They offer small-production wines and innovative craft beers paired with a seasonal menu of shareable snacks and small plates.

Not to mention the year-round Blue Ridge Mountain views that can be seen from the property. The cozy space invites patrons to relax and savor the moment with a beer or glass of wine in hand. There are also enclosed and heated outdoor dining and bar spaces along with TVs for watching the local games. You can even get some work done with their wifi.

One of the other perks is that there are on-site accommodations available to book. During my visit, I stayed in the Black Branch cabin which includes a stable and riding ring for guests to bring their horses. There are also quaint cottages, cabins, and a historic manor home available for guests. All the accommodations have offerings that make them unique, such as tennis courts, volleyball, pickleball, swimming, and more. For more information visit their website and email info@mountidareserve.com for pricing and availability.

Planning a wedding? Mount Ida Reserve is also home to four wedding venues: the Lodge, the Event Barn, Water’s Edge, and of course, the Tasting Room & Taphouse. If this is of interest to you, you can navigate the grounds through an online virtual tour or schedule a tour at 434-960-4655.

Lastly, my favorite memory of my trip was seeing all the cows on the property. The morning we left, right outside of our cabin the cattle greeted us and did not want us to leave. The views of the mountains and the cattle from our cabin were unmatched. I have never stayed anywhere like Mount Ida before.

Plan your visit to Mount Ida Reserve and embark on a culinary adventure that will leave you with cherished memories and a full stomach. Check out their Instagram page (@mountidareserve) and my reel recapping my visit. This post is sponsored by Mount Ida Reserve.
